On June 10th, in celebration of Food Safety Day, MEFOSA co-hosted a highly informative and successful mini symposium & webinar.
Esteemed doctors and professors from around the world gathered to share their expertise on various essential topics related to food safety.
The event began with an opening statement on the role of the Global Harmonization Initiative (GHI) in promoting global food safety, followed by a welcome note on the Food Safety program at NDU. Eng. Atef Idriss, CEO of MEFOSA, joined by discussing the role of the Lebanese Association for Food Science and Technology (LAFST) and the private sector in ensuring food safety in Lebanon , MENA and across the Globe .
Key presentations covered the role of AI in food safety within supply chains, the importance of food safety standards and certifications, and strategies for ensuring food safety in a globalized world (2028-2030). Other topics included the safety of raw vegetables irrigated by contaminated Litani River water in Lebanon, real cases in food safety, food safety ethics, halal food safety, and issues related to novel and plant-based foods. The symposium also introduced the SLO (Saving Life Officer) mindset for food safety, concluding with an engaging Q&A session.
Overall, the mini-symposium was a great success, filled with new information and topics vital for advancing food safety regionally and globally.
