The ACTED project was about urban agriculture becoming more significant as the gap between the food source (the farm) and the consumer is increasing due to urbanization. In accordance, the following study was conducted with the objective of assessing the outcome, safety and acceptability of urban agriculture in comparison to the traditional agriculture practices in selected areas of southern suburbs of Beirut and lower Metn area.
Results indicate that most of the participants supporting urban agriculture are women; most likely age between 36-45; don’t have a fixed job i.e work as freelancers or as housewives; are of medium income class and have a high consumption of vegetables and fruits in which they reported that they spend a daily average of 15,000 to 20,000 L.L. on them.
